What We Do

150 years on from that first meeting in 1871 to discuss the welfare of horses, the RSPCA has grown to be one of Australia’s most loved, trusted and recognised charities.

Across the country, our state and territory RSPCAs run animal care centres, where we look after unwanted or neglected animals and help them find their forever home, and enforce animal welfare legislation through our inspectorates. We help educate the community about good animal welfare, including responsible pet ownership. And for 150 years and counting, we’ve been working to change laws, policies and practices in Australia to improve and protect animal welfare.
